During the weekend of October 13–14, the Borough of Doylestown will be filled with authors and book lovers, as well as fire prevention tip seekers and kids eager to visit the Doylestown Fire Company No. 1 firehouse.
The Bucks County Book Fest will take place on Saturday, October 13, and Sunday, October 14. Saturday’s events will unfold at the Doylestown Fire Company No. 1 firehouse, located at 68 Shewell Avenue, where attendees will be met with a day filled with children’s authors and illustrators from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. Some events will be free to the public, whereas others will require a ticket to attend. The Bucks County Book Fest will continue to draw in readers and authors on Sunday, but at a new location. The Hamilton Street Parking Lot will be transformed into a book lovers paradise with a wide array of tents set up where a variety of editor and author-led events will take place. Not only will the Doylestown Fire Company No. 1 firehouse be the primary destination for the book-loving crowd on Saturday, October 13, but it will also be the location for the annual Fire Prevention Open House event. From 10 a.m.–2 p.m., firehouse visitors will get to explore the firehouse, speak with the firefighters and learn about safety and fire prevention. Other agencies which will be on hand to greet guests and activities currently scheduled for the day include the following:
- Central Bucks Regional Police Department
- Doylestown Borough Fire Marshal
- Central Bucks EMS
- Red Paw
- Pennsylvania State Police
- Paul Hashagen, Retired FDNY Rescue 1 Firefighter, will be selling and signing his book “Rescue Crew”
- Special signed copies of “Let’s Go to the Firehouse” will be available for purchase
- Kids firefighter challenge course
- Fire trucks
