The County Theater, an iconic Doylestown landmark, will be undergoing an impressive expansion project and Exploring Doylestown has the latest details for you!
It was recently announced that the County Theater will have some welcome changes occurring in the future and, as a result, be able to increase its community offerings. The County Theater will be expanding into the space next door (previously occupied by Poor Richards), which the nonprofit acquired in 2016. The expansion will include a new auditorium, new lobby, including an expanded concession stand, indoor box office, upgrades to the interior décor and a set of bathrooms on the first floor. The projected timeframe for completion is late 2020.
For the past two years, since purchasing the property next door, the theater board and staff members have been putting plans into motion and considering what type of expansion should occur and when these new additions should take place. Not only did the board and staff members thoroughly discuss the desired expansion amongst themselves, but they reached out to the community in a variety of ways, such as via meetings and surveys, and listened to what the public had to say about a potential expansion. The results were favorable and the expansion goals will now become reality.
The nonprofit County Theater organization is asking for the community’s help to aid in its expansion goals and put the expansion steps into motion. Interested individuals can make a donation online or by mail and help the expansion project get under way.
